September 21, 2020 By Kevin | Just Start Investing

Outside of buying physical real estate, there are generally two ways to invest in real estate:

  1. Invest in publicly-traded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) through a traditional brokerage account, like Charles Schwab or Vanguard
  2. Invest through a real estate crowdfunding platform, like Fundrise, and get access to private market real estate deals

Below, we’ll focus on highlighting the pros and cons of the second option.

Specifically focusing on one of the leaders in the real estate crowdfunding game: Fundrise.

The 7 Best Real Estate Books for Investing

June 10, 2020 By Jeff Anzalone

One of the more popular Google searches today has to do with achieving financial freedom. Since real estate investing is often part of achieving financial freedom, it’s not uncommon for people to search for the best real estate books. I’ll give you my list in this post.

When I turned 40, we reached a debt-free status, which felt great for about….two weeks. As a periodontist, my life has been centered around setting and accomplishing goals.

After getting accepted into dental school then a residency, the next goal was starting a practice then eventually paying off student loan debt and our home.

So when I hit 40, I asked myself, “Hey self, what’s next?” At that time, we had only ONE income source coming in, and that was from the practice.

How to Start Real Estate Investing: A Beginner’s Guide

March 27, 2020 By Jeff Anzalone

Learning how to start real estate investing has become popular as people have begun to focus on growing multiple streams of income.

If done right, you could see significant returns on your money but, as with any type of investment, “never invest in anything you don’t understand (or can’t explain to a 5th grader.”)

Even Mark Twain knew that real estate investing was valuable as he said, “Buy land. They’re not making it anymore.”

One of the main reasons that hold most people back from real estate investing is the lack of knowledge. One misconception is that it takes lots of time and money, but you’d be surprised at the multiple different ways you can get started in real estate.

If you’re not sure where to begin, let’s start by addressing the different types of real estate investing.

This post was written in partnership with Jeff Anzalone from Debt Free Dr. and The Money Mix.

How to Invest in Real Estate Without Buying Physical Property

March 11, 2020 By Andrew from Wealthy Nickel

How do most people accumulate wealth? They invest in real estate. It is a proven way to build wealth, and 90% of millionaires became so through owning real estate.

So said famous industrialist (and billionaire) Andrew Carnegie. Yet only 15% of Americans invest in real estate, according to a 2017 study.

As a real estate investor myself, I can attest to its wealth-building power. Whenever the subject comes up in conversation, almost everyone says they have thought about investing in real estate. So why is it less than 1 in 7 have done it?

Many people think it is too complicated, or would require too much time or money to get started. And maybe that was true 20 years ago.

But today, there are so many different ways to invest in real estate (without even buying property) that there is room for almost everyone to be a real estate investor in some fashion.

This post was written in partnership with Andrew from The Wealthy Nickel and The Money Mix.

Streitwise Review: Make Passive Income from Real Estate

March 1, 2020 By Kevin | Just Start Investing

Passive income can come in many forms: dividend stocks, high yield saving accounts, and even ebooks. However, one of the most natural ways to make passive income is from real estate.

Wikipedia defines passive income as, “income that requires little to no effort to earn and maintain.” That said, you do have to put in effort or money upfront to set up a passive income stream, but ongoing it should be effortless.

Real estate is the perfect form of passive income because, in theory, when real estate investing goes smoothly, you invest your money and reap the rewards for years to come.

Streitwise is a real estate investment company that can help you take advantage of this real estate passive income stream.
